Q: Does this guide cover startup costs?
A: Yes. Cost for installing new lines, equipment cost, with new and used pricing, and monthly recurring costs.
Q: I am new to networking, but I know a lot about computers, is this guide easy enough for me to understand?
A: You don't have to be a networking guru to take advantage of this information. This guide covers all aspects of the ISP business from networking and routing to equipment costs involved in starting an ISP. The terminology is easy to understand, we even give comparisons of Windows vs. Linux - which OS works better and for what circumstance. For example, you don't have to know Linux to setup an ISP, but this guide helps you to know when one operating system works better than the other.
Q: Is Wireless Networking covered in this guide?
A: Yes. The ISP that I run offers Wireless Internet access for business and residential customers. We also use Wireless as a backbone for some of our dial-up sites rather than using expensive dedicated connections. The guide covers the wireless technology and how to offer it as a service with examples of how we have it setup, along with equipment costs and rates that we charge.
Q: How current is the information in the guide?
This guide was initially completed in 2002 based on a current functional ISP.
Updates and additions are added every week, as I still run an ISP.
Q: How many pages are in the guide?
A: The guide contains over 60 pages of information including color photos, network maps, diagrams, and more. Take a look at the "About the Book" page for more info.
Q: Once I order, how soon will I get my guide?
A: Orders are processed immediately once the payment has been made. All orders are sent by priority mail within the U.S. which takes from 3 to 5 days.
Q: Do you accept personal checks or money orders?
A: Yes. We accept personal checks, money orders, and cashiers checks via postal mail. Just fill out the mail in order form and send it in along with your payment. Paypal will also accept checks, just order online as usual and you can pay with an electronic check rather than a credit card.
